APRIL MENTORSHIP CAMP

April 14, 2025 - April 16, 2025

Empowering Futures, One Student at a Time

In April 2025, BrightPath Kenya, in collaboration with WeCare4, hosted a transformative four-day mentorship program for high school students under the WeCare4 scholarship initiative. Held at Skyline Schools, Nairobi, from April 14th to 16th, the mentorship aimed to equip students with critical life skills, career insights, emotional healing, and recreational engagement.

Day 1: Life Skills & Menstrual Health Awareness

The program kicked off with powerful life skills sessions facilitated by external mentors. Topics included:

  1. Personal growth & self-awareness

  2. Time management & goal setting

  3. Stress management & coping strategies

  4. Communication & conflict resolution

  5. Peer pressure & decision-making

A dedicated segment on menstrual health was also conducted, promoting dignity and awareness among the girls.

Day 2: Career Day

Led by Ashok Opondo, the career day brought together professionals from various fields—including law, healthcare, education, architecture, accounting, digital marketing, and hospitality. Through             interactive panel discussions, students learned about career pathways, required qualifications, industry challenges, and growth opportunities. The session concluded withbreakout discussions and Q&As, allowing students to connect directly with the professionals.

Day 3: Inner Healing & Sports Day

The morning began with an impactful Inner Healing Session led by Derrick Were, guiding students through reflection, expression, and healing exercises. The session tackled real challenges like parental neglect, academic pressure, identity crises, and addiction.

In the afternoon, students took part in a vibrant Sports Day featuring football, basketball, and tennis—fostering teamwork, joy, and resilience.

Pad Drive Initiative

Recognizing the need for menstrual hygiene support, the day ended with a Pad Drive organized by Josephine Flora, distributing sanitary towels to girls, especially those from water-insecure areas.

Impact

The mentorship program was deeply impactful, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. Students expressed a renewed sense of purpose, inspiration, and eagerness for future mentorship events. This initiative reaffirmed our belief in the power of holistic youth empowerment.
