Dream Big, Plan Boldly: A Day Dedicated to Careers & Futures
If Day 1 gave our campers the skills to find their voice, then Day 2 gave them something equally powerful: a vision for their future. Career Day at the April 2026 Brightpath Mentorship and Empowerment Camp was a masterclass in possibility; a day where young people came face-to-face with real professionals who once sat exactly where they sit today, and dared to dream of something more.
Starting with a foundation. Before the day’s sessions began, mentors led participants through a brief but energising recap of Day 1, revisiting key lessons on communication, drug awareness, and healthy relationships. It was a powerful reminder that personal growth and career ambition are not separate journeys; they walk hand in hand.
Session 1: Careers
Real Professionals. Real Stories. Real Inspiration.
The first major session of the day brought an extraordinary group of professionals to the room, each representing a different path, a different calling, and a different definition of success. The career panel featured experts from six diverse fields, offering participants an unfiltered window into the world of work.

Each panellist shared the story of how they arrived where they are today; the turning points, the sacrifices, the studies, and the small daily habits that define their professional lives. They spoke openly about required skills, typical workdays, and what it really takes to thrive in their respective fields.

For many students, this was the first time they had ever sat across from a lawyer, an engineer, or an IT professional and had their questions answered directly. The effect was electric.
Session 2 : Medical Fields Panel
Healing Professions: Exploring the World of Medicine & Health Sciences
The second session turned the spotlight onto one of the most respected and impactful sectors in the world: healthcare. A panel of dedicated health professionals stepped forward to demystify careers that many young people admire from afar but rarely understand from the inside.

From the pharmacist who safeguards the community through medication management, to the biostatistician whose numbers quietly save lives through data-driven research, each professional painted a vivid and honest portrait of their career. The medical doctor and laboratory technician rounded out a panel that showed students just how broad and rewarding the health sciences truly are.
Open Q&A Forum: Students came alive during this segment, raising their hands to ask probing questions about university requirements, scholarships, the realities of long training periods, and what a typical day in a hospital or lab actually looks like. No question was too small, and the professionals answered every one with warmth and candour.
Session 3: Career Guidance
Charting the Course: Career Guidance with Mentor Mariam
To close out an extraordinary day, mentor Mariam took the stage for an extensive and deeply personal career guidance session. Drawing on her wealth of experience, she offered participants something the panel discussions couldn’t: a holistic, structured roadmap for how to think about, plan, and pursue a career; regardless of where you are starting from.
Mariam spoke about self-discovery as the first step, helping young people understand that knowing who you are is the foundation of knowing what you want to become. She walked through the importance of setting goals early, understanding educational pathways, and building resilience in the face of setbacks and detours that life inevitably presents.

It was the kind of talk that lingers long after the room empties one that reminded every young person present that their story is not yet written, and that the pen is firmly in their hands.
