π Celebrating Milestones: Q1 & Q2 University Student Birthday Bash

At BrightPath Kenya, we believe in more than just academic support; we believe in building a community. On June 22nd, 2025, we gathered at Savelberg Retreat Centre in Nairobi to honor a group of remarkable university students through our Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 birthday celebration. These quarterly events are more than birthday parties; they are safe spaces for connection, reflection, and mentorship.
π A Community of Scholars
The day began with warm introductions. Each student had the opportunity to share their name, the university they attend, their course of study, and their current year. This personal exchange fostered new friendships and a sense of unity among the scholars. BrightPath and WeCare4 staff also introduced themselves and outlined their roles, helping students better understand the team supporting them.
Josephine Flora, CEO of BrightPath Kenya, welcomed the students with an inspiring overview of the organization’s journey, its growing impact, and a renewed vision for holistic student development.

π€ Icebreakers, Games & Laughter
After the introductions, we shifted gears to lighthearted fun. Icebreakers and games filled the room with energy and laughter, creating an atmosphere of ease and connection. It was a refreshing moment for students to let loose and engage with peers beyond academic pressure.
π½οΈ A Shared Meal
Following the games, everyone gathered for lunch. Students enjoyed meals of their choice, sharing stories and laughter over good food. These moments of communal dining deepen the bond between students and staff, reinforcing that we are one BrightPath family.

πΌ Career Talk: Preparing for the Road Ahead
The afternoon session featured a powerful career talk led by Kelvin Shilisia, a professional data analyst. Kelvin offered invaluable insights into transitioning from university life to the professional world. His talk covered:
-
Navigating life after graduation
-
Balancing education with skill development
-
Embracing lifelong learning
-
The evolving job market and the power of adaptability
Students actively engaged in the Q&A session, voicing their thoughts and aspirations, and seeking guidance on how to shape their future paths.

π Celebrating the Day
To close the day, Graham Mboya gave a heartfelt vote of thanks on behalf of the students, expressing their appreciation for the support and opportunities provided by BrightPath and WeCare4. Ashok Opondo offered final remarks and a closing prayer on behalf of the staff, wishing the students growth and guidance in the journey ahead.
We ended with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony and a vibrant group photo, marking another beautiful memory in our growing story together.
