Julius: A Journey of Resilience, Hope, and Purpose
Julius, a determined medical student at Mount Kenya University, embodies the true spirit of resilience and hope. Born and raised in Gem Asumbi, Homa Bay County, Julius faced significant hardship from a young age, losing his father at only seven and later becoming a total orphan after the passing of his mother.
Despite these challenges, he remained committed to his education, often working menial jobs like milking cows at school to raise fees. After scoring 322 marks in his first KCPE attempt and missing out on scholarship opportunities, Julius bravely repeated Class 8, eventually earning 374 marks and gaining admission to Agoro Sare High School.
His perseverance paid off when Aiducation International awarded him a scholarship in Form Two, enabling him to complete secondary school with an impressive B+ in the KCSE exams.
However, with no financial support for university, Julius’s path seemed uncertain until a heartfelt appeal reached BrightPath. Touched by his story, the organization stepped in and supported his admission to Egerton University for a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.
Following academic disruptions, he transferred to Mount Kenya University, where he is currently in his third year and proudly sponsored by BrightPath. Driven by personal tragedy—his mother’s battle with gastric cancer—Julius now aspires to become an oncologist.
In the future, he dreams of establishing a cancer center to honor the organization that believed in him, offering medical care and educational opportunities to others in need.
“Julius’s story is a powerful testament to what support, determination, and compassion can achieve.”
