November Camp Day 3: Career Talk: The professionals, students and the careers birthed.

This day was marked with excitement for students as what lay ahead was interacting with professionals. This was a day designed to further prepare students into their futures. As the days were coming to a close, the objective of the camp was just commencing; it was about beginnings that would extend far beyond the session undertaken. The Career Day was here with us and with it, a roomful of students leaning forward with anticipation, ready to glimpse the paths their lives might take.

Finding where your passion meets the world’s need

Panel 1 brought professionals from various fields such as nursing, engineering, and finance to talk about the current happenings and future lens in these professionals bearing in mind these are fields that represent the backbone of modern society. The objective of this panel was concrete; deliver to the students on their preferred career paths in terms of guidance, counselling and determination required.

Most importantly, more than talking about their professions, they talked about the journey that is formed on the basis of the subjects they studied, the obstacles they overcame, the moments of doubt, and the decisions that changed everything. The moment was remarkable as students scribbled notes furiously, not wanting to miss a single word.

Panel 2 took the stage with an equally powerful message: there are countless ways to build a meaningful life. From Agriculture, Business, Law and Counseling which are regarded “blue-collar” professions and arts fields as many people put it are too often undervalued, this was a moment to reflect on the significance of this undertaking, and what needs to be done to improve the lives of people around agriculture, business, law etc.

The message for the students was clear: success isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s not just about prestige or salary. It’s about finding where your passion meets the world’s need.

The Q&A session: Questions That Matter

The subsequent session dubbed the Q&A session was opened and the floor was assigned to students to ask on their intricate questions that have been lingering in their minds incessantly. Freedom was accorded, free speech encourages and the questions came flooding in, described with honest, seek-searching, sometimes vulnerable questions that revealed just how seriously these students were taking their futures.

“What if I’m interested in two completely different fields?” “How do you know if you’ve chosen the right path?” “What if my family wants me to be one thing, but I want to be something else?” “Do I need perfect grades to succeed?” “What if I fail?”

The professionals answered with refreshing honesty. They talked about career changes, unexpected turns, and the reality that very few people follow a straight line to success. They spoke about resilience, about learning from failures, about the importance of choosing authenticity over expectations.

Celebrating Milestones

Towards the close, the camp gathered for something special: joining the university scholars for cake cutting. To many, this can be described as just dessert, but with a third eye from a vantage position view, it can be described as a symbol. These scholars were proof that the journey from where our students stood to where they dreamed of going was not only possible but happening in real time, in their own community.

The Brightpath mentorship camp doesn’t just prepare young people for careers—it prepares them for lives of meaning, purpose, and authentic self-expression. Day 3 showed them that the future isn’t something that happens to you; it’s something you build, one brave choice at a time.

Until the next camp, we carry forward the connections made, the lessons learned, and the dreams awakened.

This is Brightpath: where potential meets possibility, and young lives are forever changed.
